"Which weapon do you think suits me?"

"Hmm...I don't know. Which ones that you trained with do you like?"
Kun Tan and Wu Tang were in a weapons shop. Wu Tang had been feeling...less than useful with everyone else in their group being a bender while he wasn't. Plus, he had been trained in several sorts of weapon combat when he was young.
"Since there's a war now," he had explained to Kun Tan, "I might as well fight too."
He browsed the shelves and racks of weapons. Being a Yun Su Hong, much less the heir, one would be trained in several arts including calligraphy and painting as well as weapon and hand to hand combat. You know, just in case.
"I've trained in about half the weapons in here," he told Kun Tan, "But I've always had two favorites. The straight sword and the spear."
"Then get a straight sword or a spear."
"I plan to," he said as he examined a row of scimitars stacked neatly on a shelf, "But if something else catches my eye that may change things."
"How about this, Wu Tang?"
"Hm-oooh. I like."
He walked to where his wife was standing and looked down at a beautifully made halberd.
"Have you ever trained in the halberd?"
"Not in practice. Only in books, but I'm sure I can find a master no problem."
"Great! Now that we found you a weapon to train in, you got to take me to the nearest printer to make copies of Ye Shu's scrolls."
"I knew you came with me for another reason."
"Heehee!"

Apologies for pic-spam:
Date: 2010-11-18 05:22 pm (UTC)All these weapons are Soviet ones:
Date: 2010-11-18 05:29 pm (UTC)They don't really go over much into aerial warfare for the good reason that airbenders have a much easier time taking down bomber fleets than the Fire Nation analogue of the Katyusha.
Their main aerial development is a type of gunship patterned after these babies from the Star Wars prequels:
The Fire Nation uses ones that are a bit less elegant due to having projectile gunpowder-based weaponry:
The Fire Nation's superior firepower is able to be countered by sufficient quantity of benders on the other side, though any attempt to fight set-piece battles with the Fire Nation's pipe organs and Main Battle Tanks not disabled will.....end about as well as it can.
The total ability of Airbenders, Waterbenders, and Earth Benders, especially with the Avatar on their side, is sufficient to overwhelm this force given that the canon-Fire Nation already had tanks so they aren't unused to them.
