I think I understand the whole "beauty is pain" thing that a lot of female identifying people say now though. But it appears that my definition of beauty is just different from theirs. (wearing heels, waxing one's body versus getting tattoos)

So there's this video going around.
Feb. 11th, 2012 11:52 amIt's of a father shooting his daughter's laptop.
Now, let me brief you all on the background behind this:
-the girl in question is 15.
-she complained (on her locked Facebook profile, mind you) about doing chores or something to her friends
-her father hacked into her Facebook account, found out about the complaints, and then he took her laptop. (That she saved up for and paid for with her own money) He shot it repeatedly with a .45 in a residential area and then, if that wasn't bad enough, video taped it and posted the video to YouTube for his daughter to be publicly humiliated.
You want to know what makes me even more sick?
People are applauding this man. They're saying that kids today are ungrateful and spoiled and so on.

This is abuse. You wanna know what this reminded me of?
My dad stomping on my old Nintendo DS right in front of me because I was being "disobedient". (He didn't know it was broken at the time though)
My cousin taking away my iPod for 7 months because I had an untidy room.
CHILDREN ARE NOT FUCKING PROPERTY. THEY ARE PEOPLE.

By watered down I mean that society has twisted MLK Jr's legacy to be about white people and watered the man down to be a peace loving polite guy like how history has watered down Jesus. In reality both men were fierce as fuck.

This happened over the weekend
Jan. 16th, 2012 02:51 pmMe: *reading the newspaper and sees in the crafts/hobbies section a teenager making beads “to beat autism”* D: *emails lady who runs the crafts/hobbies section* I found the article/site offensive. When looking at the site, I found that, like most mainstream autism awareness sites, it thinks being neurodivergent is a bad thing. I’m autistic, and I like how I am. Autism doesn’t need to be “beaten” or “cured”. People’s prejudices do.
The crafts/hobbies lady: I’m so sorry that you found Michala Riggle’s web site and cause offensive. I believe you should love who you are. However, some people, who have autism (like Michala’s brother, Evan) find it hard to live with. Since it is a spectrum disorder it affects people and their lives differently. I’m glad you are living your life embracing autism. It is to be admired and commended.
