The Gospel in a Nutshell

Mankind is born sinful because Adam and Eve sinned. God knows that to die in sin is to go to hell. That's why He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross. To go to Heaven, accept Jesus into your heart. Then tell others about Him.
...yeah, that's about it. Praying this reaches someone.

Would you say then that getting to Heaven is what Christianity is all about?

Well...it's about Jesus. I...not sure. :(

I would suggest that the the Gospels and all the New Testament point not to a notion of salvation that implies simply "getting to heaven," which isn't even the ultimate end of our journey anyway (resurrection of the body is), but rather that our faith in Jesus Christ avails to us the regeneration of the Holy Spirit, so that in this life we may grow in holiness, become the new man or woman in Christ, and participate in the building of His Kingdom as He has asked us to do.

Furthermore, the Scriptures seem to indicate that Christ didn't die for an individual, but rather for the Church - meaning, He came to save His Body, and so it's not about us being somehow personally saved, but rather by faith being grafted onto the vine which is the Church, the Body of Christ. Thus those souls in heaven now, just as we hopefully will be one day, are too part of the Church, and when Christ returns, the Church will eternally live in harmony in the New Earth.

Haha, I don't believe that :)
