The future actually. lD I see Ty Lee having airbender ancestry as well, but since Aang & Katara have at least one airbending kid...lD So yeah. Airbenders eventually get repopulated. And in my head!canon, Mou Miao-Ye Shu's childhood friend-is a descendant of Ty Lee-that's why she can see auras. :3 And if I could describe/knew more about steampunk it'd be in the fic. lD
